Biography
Legendary vibraphonist Terry Gibbs began his career in 1946 performing with Tommy Dorsey, Chubby Jackson, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman and Benny Goodman before settling in Los Angeles in 1957.
After establishing his own jazz orchestras, Gibbs became the musical director of The Steve Allen Show and collaborated with Buddy DeFranco. His work continued through the age of 92, releasing critically acclaimed big band albums and collaborations with pianists such as Terry Pollard, Pete Jolly, Alice Coltrane and John Campbell.
