In celebrating the enduring impact Oscar Emmanuel Peterson has had on the world since 1925, we must first lift the veil and allow all who have been inspired by his creativity to understand the man at a more intimate level: his vulnerability, his dedication, his passion and his family. Join us for a World Tour of Oscar’s music from 1969 through 1996, accompanied by a behind-the-curtain Tour of Oscar’s World, each aiming to recreate the joy and discovery in examining the legacy forged by a titan of musicianship, friendship and compassion.
This limited edition centennial box set includes never-before-heard live concerts from Detroit (MI), São Paulo (Brazil), Basel (Switzerland), Auckland (New Zealand) and Toronto (Canada) across a 6-LP 180-gram set, accompanied by a 48-page book with never-before-seen archival material including Oscar’s own photography, poetry and personal remembrances from family, friends and fellow musicians.
About the Audio:
Sourced from the finest available archival materials, the recordings featured on World Tour originated on analog tape and have been meticulously transferred to high-resolution digital formats for restoration and mastering. Depending on the source, the original recordings were preserved on 2" multi-track, 2-track, and ¼" master tapes, with transfers undertaken by renowned broadcast archives and engineering teams around the world.
The Live in Toronto recordings were newly mixed and mastered from transfers of the original 2" multi-track master tapes, while the remaining performances were mastered from newly transferred stereo mixes sourced from the original analog recordings by engineer Blaise Barton. Mastering was completed using the Weiss Audio Mastering Suite and Digital Audio Denmark converters, chosen for their exceptional transparency and fidelity.
For vinyl production, the set was cut using modern Direct Metal Mastering (DMM), a process prized for its remarkably low noise floor, precise groove definition, and reduced risk of pre-echo and playback issues. The result is a listening experience that preserves the warmth and immediacy of these historic performances while presenting them with extraordinary clarity and detail.
